Begun, fittingly, in 1920 with a lone American Bison, the Roosevelt Park Zoo has grown into a successful animal sanctuary with an impressive array of wildlife specimens. Visitors can view such creatures as the Bengal Tiger, Giraffes, and African Penguins. The zoo lies downtown, on the southern tip of Roosevelt Park.
